Meet Our Staff

Hi, my name is Matt Theriault. I am the assistant manager at the Lewis Educational Agriculture Farm. I've lived in Southington my whole life and have been involved in farming since a very young age. Before working at L.E.A.F. I began my life in agriculture by helping at my Grandfathers farms in Canton, CT and Fort Plain, NY raising Hereford cattle and growing quality hay. While a student at SHS I was a Vocational Agriculture student that was involved with the FFA where I served as the Student Advisor. For my Vo-Ag S.A.E. (supervised agricultural experience) I worked for Mark, his brother Peter and their father at Lewis Farms. I was also a member of B.S.A. Troop 17 where I still help to set up their baked potato booth at the Apple Harvest Festival. After high school I went to the State University of New York at Cobleskill where I completed my degree in Crop Production and Soil Science (Agronomy). After college I worked at Bozzuto's in Cheshire, CT where I worked my way from reclaim clerk to the Inventory Control supervisor at their produce warehouse. After 9 years working in an office job I wanted to get back to my true passion, farming. So I went back to work at Lewis Farms, and now for 2014 I'm looking forward to the new opportunities that L.E.A.F. will be giving me to grow quality produce and give back to the community that made me what I am today.
